Lunch with Fabienne, Ethan, and Nomi.
Today I walked to a nearby mall to get a sandwich. At the sandwich shop, I met Fabienne, Ethan, and Nomi, who also work at Superstudio.
Fabienne is an artist, but is very careful in her use of the word. Several days ago I met her in the office and asked her if she was an artist She replied in a very attractive French accent, "Yes, but no." She continued to explain that she did produce art, but thought the word "artist" is better reserved for those such as Leonardo, or Van Gogh. She continued to search for the perfect word to describe herself, and I think she eventually found one, though I can't remember what it was.
That was not the only time that would happen. On a couple of other occasions, I happened to notice Fabienne searching for exactly the word she wanted. Fabienne's native language is French, though she also speaks Hebrew and English. Her vocabulary is quite large, and oftentimes she comes up with an English word that I don't even know. Then again, sometimes the right word eludes her for hours. Occasionally Fabienne's search for a word turns into a game, where everyone nearby gathers to try to guess the word that Fabienne is looking for.
Fabienne also has a great empathy for others. In fact, she slightly reminds me of Deanna Troy, Ship's Counselor from Star Trek: The Next Generation, but with a French accent.
Ethan is a computer programmer at Superstudio, but will soon be leaving for Norway. He hasn't know exactly what he's going to do there, but I don't think he'll have any trouble finding a computer job if he wants one. Ethan also plays drums. Who knows? Maybe he'll join a Norwegian band.
Nomi works in QA, but her real background is in music and the arts. She shared one of Fabienne's skinny cigarettes as we finished our sandwiches.
